Chevy has sold 14 million Impala sedans since it debuted as Chevrolet’s top-end sedan back in 1958. The model has struggled to maintain its popularity in recent years, but is poised for a comeback. The 2014 redesign has been lauded by critics and consumer agencies alike. Consumers Reports flipped the 2014 Impala from the bottom of their large sedan ratings to the No. 1 spot.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Impala a five-star crash rating, the same as a Tesla Model S.
